2016 Walk & Wag Event Information

After walking and wagging in memory of Abby, attendees will have the opportunity to: participate in contests with their dogs; watch demos by Knox County Sheriff's K-9 Unit; visit with pet-related sponsors, vendors, and non-profits; meet local animal rescue groups and shelters and some of their adoptable dogs; enjoy music and delicious food; enter prize drawings; and much more! Plus we will have a lot of fun games and activities for the kiddos in our kids' area!


Schedule of Events

9:00am: Day-of-Event & Early Registration Check-In Begin
  • Check in at the Early Registration Check-In Booth OR
  • Register at the Day-of-Event Registration Booth

10:00am: Abby's Memorial Fun Walk
  • Join us as we walk and wag through Victor Ashe Park in memory of Abby
  • Length: .68 of a mile

11:00am - 1:00pm: Festivities in the Park
  • Contests w/ Prizes for Dogs
    • Best Dressed
    • Vol Pride
    • Pet Owner Look-a-Like
    • Best Trick
  • Kids Area w/ Games & Prizes, Face Painting, and Crafts

Event Rules

Your dog must:
  • Wear a current rabies tag or license, or provide proof of rabies vaccinations on the day of the event. Your dog will not be permitted to participate in the event without this, so please come prepared!
  • Be up to date on all shots.
  • Be on a leash for the duration of the event; no leashes over six feet, please. 
  • NOT be aggressive to people or other dogs.
  • NOT be a female in heat.
 
Please Remember:
  • Be courteous, responsible and scoop up after your pet. Poop bags are provided to every participant.
  • Use good judgment regarding the temperament of your dog so the event will be safe and enjoyable for everyone.
  • Know your limitations and walk the course with your dog only if the both of you are conditioned for it. Water stations will be available throughout the venue. 

A veterinarian will be on hand in case of an injury or emergency.

Directions

Directions from downtown Knoxville: Take Western Avenue headed west; after approximately four miles, turn right onto Pleasant Ridge Road; go approximately three miles (before Northwest Middle School) and turn left onto Bradshaw Road; park is on immediate right.

Directions from I-40: From I-40, take the I-640 exit #385; take the Western Ave. West; head west on Western Ave; turn right onto Ballcamp Pk. at the Wendy's; turn right onto Bradshaw Rd; park will be on the left.

Directions from I-75: From I-75, take the Merchant Drive exit #108; head west on Merchant Dr; go to Merchant Dr. end; turn left onto Pleasant Ridge Rd; turn right onto Bradshaw Rd; park will be on the immediate right.
